Why don't you ever update this? Cuz Jim created blogs for everyone, so I've been using that, making this page a little redundant. Sorry! I'll try to think of something else interesting to put on this site so you have something fun to look at when you come here. Speaking of, have you checked out my California pics yet?
So, you got burgled, eh? Yup, they stole our stereo & jim's briefcase & ibook from the car. Went to the insurance company today and they want to replace our super-nice stereo with a used factory stereo. After taking out our deductible, they would cut us a check for just $15. We passed on that generous offer & we'll just re-install the factory stereo that came with the car. So, our nice fancy stereo is just a loss. That's not happy. Now we're working with our renter's insurance to replace the laptop. Hopefully that venture will work out a little better...

Have you heard from Ryan lately? Yep, talked to him online yesterday. He's in Japan for a year teaching English. He sent me some photos, and I'll just assume he wants me to share them with you:

This is his bedroom. Those cool rice-paper covered
glass doors lead to a tiny balcony. (Maybe if he reads this he can send
me the correct names for all this stuff, since I've forgotten) |
He's standing on his bed to take this picture. You
can see into his living room. The wall is just a series of sliding doors
on tracks. The doors to the left lead to the kitchen & to his closet.
The floors are covered with cool mat thingys |
He thought this little girl in the kimono was cute. He didn't even notice that she's wearing a Hello Kitty kimono! Even cuter! |
So, is there an IKEA in Phoenix yet? Sigh, NO! But it's supposed to be here next fall! Yay! But hopefully we're going to go visit Rachel some weekend soon & we can go to IKEA & buy new furniture for our living room. Oooh, ahhh. We also need to go to Universal Studios becasue mom got us a yearlong pass for Christmas & we've never used it! D'oh! So we have to go like 18 times before January so we can make up for it!
Are you cold right now? Yes, yes I am. Stoopid air conditioner, anyway. Grrr.
What's your favorite movie right now? I rented & then bought 'Adaptation' last weekend. It has Nicolas Cage in it & it's sooo good. You should watch it now.
What are you doing this weekend? Not sure
How's Brody? Not bad. He went to the vet on Thursday to look at his leg. Sometimes it hurts him. He'll whine & hold it up, just for a few seconds, and then it's back to normal. The vet said it was probably his kneecap popping out of place! Ouch! But she said his hips & everything seem normal & healthy. If his knee gets worse, he could have medication and then surgery. But for now it seems not to bother him too often. Now he's started taking glucosamine pills, tho, to strengthen his joints and cartlidge & hopefully prevent his knee from getting worse. He likes to take his medicine. He gets excited. I just tell him to sit & then he excitedly sits & gently takes the pill from my hand. He's a good boy!
You never told me the address for Jim's blog. Oh yeah, here it is: jimsblog.newsed.net He hasn't updated it in awhile. I've got one too but I haven't really used it. I did once: hmmm, i can't even figure out the right address. So obviously I don't use it much. I use this instead. The only reason the blog is better is because I can update it from work or wherever. I have to be home & at Jim's computer to update this web site. Oh well.
So, where you right? Of course I was right. I always told everyone Big Thunder Mountain Railway was a terrible horrible mean deadly ride. They didn't believe me. But I was right. But they'll still probably want to ride that deathtrap again next time we go to Disneyland.
How was your day? It was good, thanks for asking
Ok, what did you do today? Took the doggy on a walk this morning cuz he loves walks and I kind of like them too. For lunch I made hashbrowns from Trader Joes & they got really brown & crunchy & were very yummy. I also made a salad with my own balsamic italian dressing (well, it comes from a packet), cut up pears, cut up strawberries and feta cheese. And some croutons for good measure. It was really yummy! Not with the croutons, tho. I scooped them aside & ate them afterward. Found out Joe can't come visit, which is sad. The vet took all his money to fix Flint, who has all sorts of annoying doggy problems. But hopefully he'll be all better now. Went to work. Did a little bit of work. Ate at Baja Fresh.
How did you get home? I rode the bus home for
the first time tonight. I ride it to work everyday, but Jim always picks me
up at
night.
But tonight he had to work really late & gas is too freakin' expensive to
be driving back & forth, so I rode the bus. The bus station is only about
2 blocks from my work, but downtown's a little scary at night, so a security
guard from my building walked me down & helped me find the spot to catch
my bus. I noticed that the only people waiting there with me were all middle
aged women by themselves. And when the bus did come, there were only women &
children on it. It was odd & comforting. It wasn't crowded at all, people
weren't hot & sweaty, nobody looked like they were riding the bus just cuz
they didn't have anywhere else to be- it was far more comfortable than during
the daytime. Quicker, too, since it didn't have to stop as many times. The walk
from the bus stop to my house was a little creepy; some strange characters walking
around. But nobody bothered me & I got home fine. Until I walked up &
noticed something terrible is rotting inside our garbage can! And i don't know
what it is, but it's awful! I could smell it almost from the sidewalk, &
garbage collection doesn't come until Tuesday! bleh! (PS- I cut out that picture
of the bus all by myself in Photoshop. I'm very proud. oooh, ahhh. hee hee)
What are the dog & cat doing right now? Brody & I are following the cat around trying to take a good photo of her so you can see her. But she doesn't like the clicky flashy thing, or the attention, or the dog, so she keeps wandering away. Now she followed me back & is sitting on the desk. Silly girl. So I took a bunch of pics of Brody cuz he's fun & doesn't mind at all. Even if I take blurry closeups of his nose. Here's a whole page of photos I just took, and one we took last week. Here's one photo of the cat tonight.
What
are you reading now? I'm reading Catch-22, which Joe sent me for my
birthday. I've never read it, and It's pretty entertaining so far. He also sent
me a box of White Cheddar Cheez Its, some DVDs from Pizza Hut, including Honeymoon
in Vegas, All Dogs go to Heaven II, and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey.
He also sent me a
Gopher Deluxe Pick up & Reaching Tool. I don't know how I lived without
it. All that tedious & dangerous reaching & picking up I had to do.
It was brutual, but no more, thanks to Joe.
Now I'm going to go watch the news. Oh, you should go read Jim's new blog... except I don't remember the address. Hmm, I'll put it up later. Or email me & I'll get it for you. Adios for now!

Whatcha been up to? You people don't ask very exciting questions, do ya? Rachel was in town this weekend, from Saturday until Tuesday. We ate at Haji Baba, our favorite middle eastern restaurant. It's in Tempe. We sat around & played cribbage and watched Daily Show clips on the Internet. We went to see Pirates of the Carribean. It was pretty good. More entertaining than all the other crappy movies I've seen lately. Ate at Mi Patio & drank margaritas. Our favorite Mexican place & it's just down the street & the margaritas are just $1.25. Sunday Chris, Rachel & I went hiking at Tonto Natural Bridge north of Payson. Jim stayed home at work. Chris & I love Tonto. Rachel wasn't as impressed because it was 100 degrees. Little warm for her SoCal blood. . That night Jim made a spaghetti dinner & it was really yummy. We drank the wine Kevin & Crescent gave us as a wedding gift & got to use our new wine glasses. It was pretty good. We watched Punch-Drunk Love. It was weird. I don't think I'd watch it again. It made me nervous. Monday night we went to Jack Johsnon & Ben Harper! And it was soo good! Jack Johnson is such a cool guy & Ben Harper puts on an amazing show. I've never seen JJ before, but I listen to his music all the time. He even did covers of Paul Simon, Sublime and Jimmy Buffet. I saw Ben Harper with Joe in 1997 at the HORDE tour in Idaho. I didn't know who he was there, but I thought he was amazing then. He still is. Ran into Justin Doom & Sam Ganzyrik at the concert. Friends from State Press & school. Saw Doom again the next night (weird since we haven't seen each other in months) at the Sugar Bowl in Scottsdale. Everyone got together cuz our friend Jodie was in town. She works at the Salt Lake Tribune now. Saw lots of friends I hadn't seen in awhile, so it was good! Now I'm going to take Brody for a walk cuz it's getting late in the day (9:47 a.m.) and getting hot! I didn't take him yesterday cuz it was too hot, but I don't think he'll stand for that today. He gets a little cranky if he doesn't have his walk....
So, what's exciting these days? We got to sit
in the 2nd row of DMB
for my birthday. That was, um, amazing. In a couple weeks Rachel is coming to
town & she & I & chris are going to see Ben Harper & Jack Johnson
in downtown Phoenix! Yay! So excited. I just ordered the new Ben
Harper cd using an Amazon
gift certificate step-sis
Jessie gave me for bday. Um, what else? It's really hot
here. Had lunch with friend Adam
Kress yesterday at a really good Italian
place
.
Hey, didn't I get you a wedding gift? Yup, and we totally love it & use it daily, and your thank-you note is sitting on the kitchen table getting its finishing touches for a quick journey in the mail. I swear! Wanna see some of the stuff we got?
What have you been reading? Of course finished Harry Potter awhile ago. Now I'm addicted to Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean Auel.
Are you involved in any sort of salsa challenge? Why yes, tonight is the First Super Fantabulous Lime-Filled Great Mesa Salsa Challenge and I am prepared to win, despite the fact that I would never ever eat salsa. Ewwww.
What are the dog & cat doing right now? Mozart's bathing, and Brody's getting annoyed that I'm taking his picture while he's trying to sleep.

Why have you not updated this page in awhile?
Tired of answering questions, I guess. Oh, and I was out of town for
a couple weeks. You can see some pictures here.
How's your new phone?
Eh, it didn't really work. I could never get reception & it sounded worse
than my old phone! So I returned it & am still using my old phone.
What'd you get for wedding gifts?
Stuff. Lots of stuff. A cooler. Lots of bath towels and kitchen towels. Plates
and glasses and silverware and lots of purple stemmed wine glasses. A tent.
Sleeping bags. Camping shower. Knives. Bird feeders. Bath stuff. Two-way radios.
Cash. A hammock. Dog bones & squeeky
toy. Pyrex bowls. Stainless steel mixing bowls and measuring cups and measuring
spoons. A cool glass tray thingy. A silver platter with our names & wedding
date engraved. Tableclothes. A basket of Italian food with a framed Hunt's tomato
sauce ad from the '40s. Chenille throw pillows. Crystal pitcher. Barbecue set.
Funky butterfly patio lights. And a lot of other stuff that I can't think of
at this moment! :)
Do you have a theme song?
I do now: Buss Pass by Wesley Willis.
Hey, whatcha got there?
It's my new tiny cell phone! Cute, huh? ;-)

What did you do this morning?
I took the doggy on a walk so he wouldn't go romp around in the backyard
that's all wet & muddy from irrigation. Brody and I met 4 new neighbors.
Then I washed all the outside windows so we can put the dark ugly sun screens
back up for the summer. We'll do that when Jim gets up. la la la. no wonder
he's not getting up! I put some nails in the fence around the grape vine so
it will grow up instead of growing along the patio as it's doing now. I watered
the pomegranate tree & the little orange tree & i unraveled the hose
& wound it all up again, but better this time. Then I recounted all the
RSVP cards. Then I thought, hmmm, I should have more new content. So I wrote
this. Not very exciting, is it? Now I'm going to go finish my self-evaluation
for work. No, you can't read it.
Did you finish that book?
I did finish that book & it was really good! But kind of sad. Now I'm reading
another book Rachel sent me, Nickel & Dimed. It's making me glad
I don't work in a restaurant anymore. Yuck
What're you reading these days?
Hopefully tonight I'll finish A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
by Dave Eggers. Rachel bought it for me, after she saw him read along with They
Might Be Giants. It's so good, and heartbreaking, actually, and quite possibly
a little genius. You should all buy
it & read it. Y'know, instead of finishing this page, I think I'm going
to go read it. Ok, I'll do one more....
What're you listening to right now?
It's a mix of songs lovingly titled "New Playlist," tho I can't remember
when I made it & I don't think I've actually listened to it the whole way
through. I think I threw it together one day and then forgot about it until
tonight...
